QUESTION:

Why can I not get my e-mail after upgrading to Norton AntiVirus 2002?

POSSIBLE SOLUTION(S):

This is caused by a problem with Norton AntiVirus 2002 in how it scans incoming and outgoing e-mail on your computer. This is a problem with Norton AntiVirus 2002 and not with the Tellurian Networks mail servers. It is recommended that Email Scanning be disabled in Norton AntiVirus 2002 otherwise you will not be able to send or receive e-mail. Disabling this feature will not leave your computer vulnerable to virii as your system will still be protected in the background by Norton AntiVirus 2002.

In order to disable Email Scanning in Norton Antivirus 2002, take the following steps:

  1. Find the Norton AntiVirus 2002 icon in your system tray (next to your clock).

  2. Right-click on the icon and select "Configure Norton AntiVirus" (NOTE: If you can't find the AntiVirus icon, you can get to where you need to go by locating the Norton AntiVirus group by going to "Start > Programs > Norton", and opening Norton Antivirus, then clicking on the "Options" button at the top of the program window).

  3. Go to the Norton AntiVirus Options. Under the Internet section, click on Email.

  4. Uncheck both the "Scan incoming Email (recommended)" and the "Scan outgoing Email (recommended)" option boxes. When finished, your screen should look like this:

  1. Click OK to save and close. You may be prompted to confirm and save your settings. If you are, click Yes.

You should now be able to send and receive e-mail normally.
